Biography:

Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec: (1864-1901) French painter and great artist that was also known to be a lithographer and a draftsman. From an aristocratic family, he broke both of his legs in childhood, during his convalescence he turned to drawing and painting. In 1882 he began to study art in Paris, where he met van Gogh & Degas and by 1989, has been exhibited at the salon des Independants & in Brussels. In 1891 his first posters brought him immediate recognition. He is a revolutionary artist that truly captured the Parisian nightlife of the Montmartre where he lived. He painted quite frequently in thinned oil paint on unprimed cardboard. Inspired by Japanese prints, his paintings were often studies for lithographs. Lautrec said I don't belong to any school, I work in my corner.
