Buyers Furniture Guide Page
Furniture:
Furniture are movable pieces and are used to provide storage, support the human body or to display objects above the ground. In addition to furniture's primary functional role, it is also considered a form of decorative art. Furniture can be made of all types of wood, metal, glass, poli-resin and leather.
Furniture Style:
How do you know what is your personal furniture style? The simplest answer, its what you feel most comfortable in. In most cases your home will showcase your personal furniture style.
How to Maintain Furniture:
- Dust your furniture regularly using a link free cloth.
- Maintain the humidity between 25 and 35 percent so wood does not dry out or become saturated and warped.
- Avoid sliding anything, like vases plates, serving dishes, across a surface to prevent scratching
- Avoid polishing furniture opposite of the grain direction
- Keep your furniture out of the direct sunlight, as the sun can bleach and dry out the wood
- Vacuum the inside of furniture drawers regularly as sawdust builds up and impedes flow.
- Avoid leaving water rings on the table, use coasters whenever you set down glass
How to Layout and Set Up Furniture:
- Symmetry is very restful and can be formal, while asymmetry is used to add visual motion and excitement.
- In a dining room, make sure there is at least 48" between each edge of the table and the nearest wall or piece of furniture for passing traffic.
- For small rooms, select furniture with multitasking traits. For example, a chest can serve as storage as well as a coffee table or bench.
- Paint your walls with lighter colors to open up a small room.
- Similarly scaled pieces are more serene when used together, but a nice balance creates a harmonious atmosphere, using the differing physical qualities of height, depth and width throughout the room.
- Coffee tables should be located 14 to 18" from a sofa table to provide sufficient leg room, but still enough for accessibility.
